About me

I'm Anming Alexander, the founder of English Evolution Academy, and I didn’t start out teaching English.

My first work in education was with children who had developmental disabilities, specifically autism. I cared deeply about the work, but I quickly saw a problem: the dominant method in the US is a rigid system that measures “success” by how well children do what they are told, not by whether they understand or find meaning in learning.

I hated it.

When I left the US to go into English teaching, I ran into the exact same problem. I worked for public and private schools in Asia, and in both cases, the systems were built around textbooks and passing tests. From my perspective, these schools were failing at their most important goal: helping students use English confidently in the real world.

I saw good students memorize vocabulary, pass tests, and still freeze in conversation. Not because they lacked effort or intelligence, but because they did not have the tools they needed.

I ultimately came to the conclusion that companies and bureaucracies simply have different goals than individual students. And I no longer wanted to be a part of organizations that kept doing the same thing year after year, even when it wasn’t working.

So I created English Evolution, where everything starts with you – your questions, your goals, and the situations you actually face. Every lesson targets the questions you have and the speaking skills you need in the real world. No filler.
